Digital Photography
I have always been
interested in photograhy. Many years ago I would work with a 35 mm camera and did my own dark
room work. The colored slides were terrific. I even took two rolls of film of the Columbia Ice Fields in
Alberta. I guess I got carried away. Such was my enthusiasm for taking pictures.
Times have changed with the
coming of the digital camera. Almost anyone can become an expert with little effort. My first digital camera
had limitations on the number of picture I could take. The view screen was so small it was difficult to cut
in the objects. Most mistakes could be rectified in the printing process. I started printing with the
computer. I found that was quite slow and fairly costly with the paper and printer cartridges. Most of my
pictures I do at the local WallMart. The 4x6 is a good size when you expand the pictures. Anything larger I
would edit and print on the computer as it is cheaper for larger prints, but more time
consuming.
Instead of having colored
slides you can have a slide show on the computer or a picture viewer. You can send pictures to your friends,
some cameras will give you the necessary disk, if not Kodak has them. It is sometimes better
to transfer the pictures to a disk. You can burn more disks on the computer to send to friends and
label them as you wish.
As technology moves on,
things become more advanced and you get more for your money. You can spend as much as you want. You usually
just pay more the better features. Todays $100 camera is good enough for most people. Try to get a viewing
screen that is 2x2. Most people go for the over kill and spend much more. Six pixels is good enough. The more
pixels just means you can blow up the pictures more without losing definition. Lighting can be a problem.
Always, have the sun at your back whe taking pictures of people. You can make some corrections when
printing.
I have always treated
photography as a hobby. Some people make living by taking pictures. I take pictures at weddings and events.
Photography has opened many doors for me. I get invited to many more places for it.
With my present camera, I
have 4 AA rechargable batteries. The charger more than pays for itself. Make sure that you charge up before
taking any large number of pictures. You do not want the camera to die in the middle of something. On most
cameras you will have to reset the date after recharging the batteries, for the camera to
work.
Have fun take more and better
pictures!
